Many people are surprised to hear that the Phoenix area actually has
many choices for watersports. You might
think, Phoenix
is in the middle of the desert, how can you go boating, waterskiing or
jetskiing. Well, like many other parts
of the country, the rivers that run through the state have dams and that means
that we have large recreational lakes.
No matter where you live in the Phoenix area, you can get to a lake within an
hour. For most valley residents, that
can be less than half an hour. On the west side of town you will find LakePleasant,
on the Agua FriaRiver,
located in Peoria.
SaguaroLake and CanyonLake are located east of Scottsdale and North of
Mesa and accessible within a 20 minute drive for both.
ApacheLake and RooseveltLake are further NE of
Mesa. All four are located on the Salt River
Bartlett and Horseshoe lake
are located northeast of Scottsdale on the Verde River. All
of these lake provide fantastic natural beauty, relaxation and all kinds of
water sports. Horseshoe is a favorite for fishing and does not allow other watersports motorcraft.
